Mark Ruffalo was being interviewed by MTV about current projects and future projects and had this to say about a Hulk solo movie:
“I don’t think that’s where they’re going to go… “Planet Hulk” is: they actually launch Bruce Banner into space to try and get rid of him and the Hulk. And he ends up freaking out, smashing up the spaceship, and it goes off course and it ends up on this planet of gladiator creatures, like pre-Christian, Romanesque.
“I don’t think that’s the way to go yet. I think you need more Banner. The whole thing is just him as Hulk, on a planet, fighting other gladiators. He falls in love, he has a baby, he finds a woman… and then The Avengers nuke the planet.”
While Mark did bring a new Bruce Banner to the Avengers movie, I am going to disagree with his statement. I already know and accept the fact that they will need to make some changes to make a Planet Hulk movie. There is no way they could make it like the comic, there have to be some alterations to the story. Well one of the changes could be that Bruce would have more screen time. In the comic, you really only saw him in the Hulk Annual for the storyline but there would be ways to give Bruce more screentime. I feel that the brought concepts and imagery of the Planet Hulk storyline would bring in a bigger crowd than just another Hulk movie with just more Bruce in it.
I worked on another design with great artist Jeffro that is going to be up on Teefury on June 30th. It is a mash-up between Dr. Who and Where the Wild Things Are and the design is called Who the Wild Things are (11) since this design features the 11th Doctor and some of his classic villains. We actually have another design featuring the 4th Doctor but it hasn’t been accepted yet. Tell Teefury you want to see it. Take a look and make sure to buy a shirt tomorrow!
Mark Ruffalo recently spoke more on the potential of a Hulk solo movie:
“He’s the one person who doesn’t want to do the very thing that all of us are dying to see him do, and he’s the one person who doesn’t want to be there, and so it can get very maudlin,” explains Ruffalo.
“It could get very boring to watch the guy who’s moping around who doesn’t want to do the very thing that we’re all dying to see him do. But I do feel like we’ve gained some ground on this new version of him.”
“I think the relationship between Banner and The Hulk as a conscious conflict… it could be really interesting. The one thing that I think The Hulk is terrified of is Banner, and that’s never really been mined.”
He also confirmed that the cast of the Avengers 2 movie will be at SDCC this year:
“Yeah, we’re gonna go out there,” confirms Ruffalo. “We’re all flying, we’re flying from London. We’re working. We’re shooting. We’re gonna stop and get on a plane and go to Comic-Con together. It’s gonna be amazing.”
Marvel Select is releasing a new Hulk action figure called Savage Hulk. Not sure about the face, it looks a little off. And it probably would have looked better in a grey color, the face would have fit that color scheme better. Right now, it is only available on marvelshop.com if you can’t wait for it to be available at Disney stores or other locations. Here is the information from Marvel’s website:
Since he was first introduced in 1962, the Incredible Hulk’s fame has grown by leaps and bounds. From the pages of his Marvel comic book, to the live-action TV series that made him a household name, to his defining role in Marvel’s The Avengers, the Hulk has grown from misunderstood monster to Hollywood hero. And now Diamond Select Toys has teamed up with marvelshop.com to grant fans early access to an exclusive Hulk action figure!
From June 23 to July 7, marvelshop.com will be the only place to order the Marvel Select Savage Hulk action figure, featuring an exclusive sculpt of the gamma-irradiated Avenger. The Savage Hulk figure wears a tattered outfit that harkens back to his origins, when nuclear scientist Dr. Bruce Banner was caught in an atomic blast and first transformed from a man into a monster.
Sculpted by Gabriel Marquez, who has previously sculpted figures of Hulk, Thor and Magneto for the Marvel Select line, this completely new figure stands approximately 9 3/4″ inches tall with 14 points of articulation. He will come packaged in the oversized Select-style blister card, perfect for in-package display, and with reference artwork on the spine for shelf storage.

CreatureBox is the incredible duo of Greg Baldwin and Dave Guertin that work in the video game design business but are some of the best artists to draw monsters ever. Don’t believe me, then take a look at their website. Told ya. I had them do a Planet Hulk bust in my sketchbook a couple years ago and last year decided to have them start a Hulk jam piece. They of course started with the Hulk last year and this year I gave them dealers choice as to which Hulk villain they would add first to the jam. They picked the Rhino and nailed it. How cool does that look? Next con I see them at, I am having them add two villains just because I can’t wait to see what they do next.
Stephane Roux has done a ton of incredible covers for DC featuring their women but what most people don’t know is that he does a great Incredible Hulk. I was lucky enough to watch Stephane draw this very cool Incredible Hulk sketch, a very cool addition to my sketchbook.
I have seen Dave at HeroesCon a number of times and was always impressed with his classic style of of art and I finally got the chance this year to get him to do a piece in my sketchbook. His Planet Hulk is very dynamic and watching him put wet ink down on the page was amazing to watch.
Daniel Govar is a currently under the radar comic book artist but based on what I have seen, don’t expect that to last long. I saw a completely unbelievable Galactus and Silver Surfer commission he did that deserves to be on the cover to a Silver Surfer comic book. The detail and coloring were amazing. When I was at HeroesCon, I knew I had to get him to add to my Planet Hulk sketchbook and he really delivered. Take a look at this beauty, Daniel’s name will be on the rise, just wait and see.
When I first heard Art Adams was coming to HeroesCon this year, I was super excited. His artwork is so detailed, you can look at it and always see something new. I was lucky enough to get on his list and he created a piece of art that is simply incredible. I was blown away when I opened my sketchbook and saw this looking at me. I look at it now and still can’t believe it is in my book. During the con, there was almost always a line of people at Art’s table and he would spend the time talking to each of them and signing probably a thousand books at least. Great experience for anyone who got a chance to meet him during the con, glad that HeroesCon brought him out this year, highlight of my con for sure. Looking at this, it is easy to understand why Art is considered a modern master artist. Art is so good at drawing huge monsters and creatures, he nailed the whole look and feel of the Hulk’s face. Look at the attitude in that drawing. Wow is all I have to say.
