When Lego announced they had gotten the Marvel license, I was wondering what they would do with the Hulk. Would they make him the same size as all the other Lego figures and size him up a bit. The good news is they bulked him up a lot. He is huge compared to the other Lego figures but he did loose articulation. His feet are stuck in one position. Still very cool to own a Hulk Lego figure.

Smart Hulk Minimates Disney Store Exclusive

When Disney bought Marvel Comics, you just knew it was a matter of time before the Disney store would be selling Marvel merchandise. The good news is that the Disney store features some exclusive stuff, like this Smart Hulk Minimates figure which comes in a 2-pack. Very cool looking Hulk, he even comes with two rocks. Although since this is the Smart (or Merged) Hulk, he really should have a really big gun.

Ernie Chan 1940-2012

The comic world lost another great artist yesterday, Ernie Chan. For those who don’t know who he is, he was a penciler and inker who worked for Marvel and DC in the 70′s and 80′s mostly. He worked on Conan, Dr. Strange but for me, I will always remember his time working as inker with Sal Buscema in the early 200′s of the series. That was when I first started to really collect Hulk comic books and the look and feel of the Hulk at that period will always be “the” look of the Hulk. Ernie Chan will be missed and I will always appreciate what he did to help make the Hulk looks so incredible.

Lou Ferrigno Secret Cameo in Avengers Movie

We all know the look of the Hulk’s face was based on Mark Ruffalo but word has come out that Lou Ferrigno of the old Incredible Hulk tv series had a hand in the Hulk’s voice. Joss Whedon, the director of the Avengers movie, really wanted the Hulk’s growl and yell to seem superhuman, not just an animal. In the end, the Hulk’s sound ended up being a combination of Mark Ruffalo, Lou Ferrigno, and three other people. How cool is that.

Avengers Sets 3 Day Record

Besides being a completely awesome and incredible movie, the Avengers has now set a record many people never thought would be broken. The movie made an estimated $200.3 million from 4,349 locations over this past weekend, easily going past the $169.1 million of previous record-holder Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. I think it will be hard to think of any other movie doing this again or beating this record. HULK SMASH!!!!!!!!!

My Review of the Avengers Movie

The Avengers movie finally debuted and I took my family to the midnight premier. I proudly give this movie an A grade for just being an awesomely well done movie. I will try not to give too many spoilers. All the same actors are back in their roles from their solor movies except for Mark Ruffalo who is stepping into the Bruce Banner role. Joss Whedon directed the movie and wrote it along with Zak Penn. They did a great job on the characterization of all the Avengers and even the support roles, like Loki. They all act pretty much exacly like they do in the comic books in regards to their general personalities and how they deal with each other. From the movie trailers, you know that Iron Man and Thor fight and the reasoning behind it all makes sense. The storyline has to do with Loki trying to get the Cosmic Cube and allow an alien race invate the earth so that he can control it. I wasn’t sure about Mark Ruffalo when they first announced him as the new Bruce Banner as I think he is a little too stocky for a nerdy scientest. After watching the movie, I can say that Mark does a great job. He brings a slowly burning underneathe the surface, like you never know just if he is going to go off and turn into the Hulk. This Hulk looks a little different than the Hulk in the previous movie, you can see a bit of Mark Ruffalo in his face. Without giving anything away, the two best scenes in the whole movie are the fight between Hulk and Loki and also what Hulk does after he and Thor defeat a flying serpent. You will not be left down.

When you do see the movie, make sure to stay til after the credits are done because there are two bonus scenes. The first one is an awesome comic book geek moment and the second is funny as heck.

I will definitely be going to see this movie again. You need to go see it now. When the family went to the midnight showing, we all got dressed in Incredible Hulk t-shirts to show our support for the green guy.
